The Last Supper/Holy Communion

In the ordinance of communion, believers experience the most blessed and sacred bond between themselves and their risen Lord, and between one another.
It merges heart and mind in devotion to the person and work of the Lord Jesus Christ.
No other service so reflects the vital elements of Christian experience and faith.
As a pastor it is my duty to so understand and relay its truth and direct its observance as to bring its holy significance within the experience of each participant every time it is observed.
As this is so special we want to make sure that we have observed the proper preparation of the table and the elements. Clean linens and clean communion-ware are indispensable, as also Jesus is pure and faultless, without sin (dirt or grime).
Holy Communion should never be an appendage to a service, and never be unrelated to the theme of the service.
Its holy character and spiritual content demand for communion the climactic point in the worship service.
It is very important as a pastor, to in a gracious manner though, to make it clear that the Lord's table is for the Lord's people, those born again and living a holy life.
The Scriptures are clear that each person bears responsibility before God to determine his or her fitness to partake:“But let a man examine himself, and so let him eat of that bread, and drink of that cup” (1 Corinthians 11:28). But participation is not optional for the believer: “This do” (11:24).
I believe it to be of the utmost importance to give a time of personal reflection before proceding into the rite of Holy Communion.

Within Eagle Wings Ministries anybody that is of adult mind, and able to make their own decisions, will be encouraged to appropriately examine themselves about partaking in the Holy Communion.
In case of families, parents should be allowed to determine when and if their children should receive the elements.
If they know that their child has prayed to receive Christ and that he has a basic understanding of the symbolism involved.

Simultaneous Communion

Because it heightens the sense of congregational unity, simultaneous communion is most commonly practiced. In this form, communicants retain the bread when they are served, and all partake together at a given signal. Likewise, the cup.

Individual Communion

As the act of Holy Communion is all about obedience to the Lord Jesus and reflect the sacred bond between themselves and their risen Lord, it is also the first act that we complete after sealing a husband and wife in Holy Matrimony.
The Pastor performs the rite of Holy Communion after the declaration of husband and wife thus declaring the importance of the three string chord with Christ being the center of the marriage relationship.
Ecclesiastes 4:9-12 (CEB) “Two are better than one because they have a good return for their hard work. 10 If either should fall, one can pick up the other. But how miserable are those who fall and don’t have a companion to help them up! 11 Also, if two lie down together, they can stay warm. But how can anyone stay warm alone? 12 Also, one can be overpowered, but two together can put up resistance. A three-ply cord doesn’t easily snap.”
