The Ass of Jesus
Have you heard all the controversy, all the attacks, and all the bustle and hustle that is going around now?
People attacking Dr. Graham, and with that God's Message.
For years now Dr. Billy Graham has sat down at the table with sins and sinners alike, and he has been on the prayer teams for presidents from President Jimmy Carter on.
He was a very successful disciple of Christ and brought, many, many, many people to Jesus.
We have however also seen that Dr. Billy Graham became overly tolerant of those that we're watering down God's word, and as far as I know, has never even once spoken out against the false prophets of the hyper-grace movement, name it and claim its movement within the Pentecostal or charismatic churches, or even anything else like that.
His Son, Dr. Franklin Graham, however, is another story, he speaks out openly and with the bully pulpit created over the decades by his father, he has an audience.
But instead of going into doctrinal, or even a philosophical discussion with him, the prophets left and right are popping up out of the bushes and attacking him.
As long as Dr. Graham is using God's word to be spoken you just cannot say anything against it unless, of course, you do not agree with it.
When that is the case and Dr. Graham is speaking the words of God's Word, they have exposed themselves as I believe they did, as false prophets.
As they claim Dr. Franklin Graham sinned against the Christian Community at large.
Sinned against us, the fellow members of the body of Christ, his words as they say have hurt thousands.
HMMM, I need to say praise the Lord, he sinned against the church, whom we really don't care about in this way, which is ok.
It would be a bad thing to have sinned against God.
Dr. Graham, keep on shaking up the so-called Christian Community and keep on preaching repentance.
I know you are now preaching the words that you will find interwoven in our message for the last six years.
They might call you an ass, but that is what we are talking about today isn't it.
It was the young colt, the ass that brought Jesus into Yerushalayim.
I for one, love to be an ass for Jesus, and I love to bring His un-adulterated message into town.
Oh yes I know, I do not make myself very popular with a large section of the Christian community.
That is why we write Christian in these places with a lower case C instead of a capital because the Capital C is reserved for the use of the body of Christ, the Church
at large, not for those that are maybe in the majority but are only organized as a church to spread the feel-good into society.
The feel-good won't give you anything you truly need.
The Church which preaches God's unadulterated word will give you everything you need through the love and correction of God's Holy Word Yeshua Ha'Mashiach.
So then what is this all about, what is so important about this day.
For centuries people have been told that the Messiah
would come, and he would be a king to his people and set them free.
The Roman oppression is harsh and the people are yearning for the messiah to come.
What they did not know however was that before to be truly set free, you must be delivered from yourself, your hardness, your sin, your selfishness, and your disbelief first before anything else.
People can be set free from an oppressor any day, but they will still be kept captive inside their hearts and souls by this darkness.
Unless they have received deliverance from this darkness too.
We've seen it in history, and then I'm looking at the country I was born in.
When occupied Europe was freed from the German oppressor, they went back to the colonies and in Indonesia acted in the same way as the Germans had done in Europe. Oppression, violence, and hatred.
These people were never delivered, they were never set free, and they were still held in bondage, even when the occupying forces were long gone.
In this Jesus, as we know, came to set our hearts and souls free, so that we could enter into heaven within a new sealed covenant with Him.
But today we look at our brothers and sisters 2000 years ago celebrating the arrival of the new king.
Hosanna, Baruch Haba Hashem Adonai.
What is it that happened all before this?
Let's go back to last Friday when all this happened so long ago.
1 Six days before Passover, Yeshua came to
Bethany, where Lazarus was, whom Yeshua had
raised from the dead.
2 So they prepared a dinner there for Yeshua.
Martha was serving, and Lazarus was one of those
reclining at the table with Him.
3 Then Miriam took a pound of very expensive oil
of pure nard and anointed Yeshua's feet, and she
wiped His feet dry with her hair. Now the house was
filled with the fragrance of the oil.
4 But Judah from Kriot, one of His disciples, the
one who was about to betray Him said,
5 Why wasn't this oil sold for three hundred denarii
and the money was given to the poor?
6 Now he said this not because he cared about the
poor, but because he was a thief. Since he had the
money box, he used to steal from what was put in it.
7 Therefore Yeshua said, "Leave her alone! She set
it aside for the day of My burial.
8 You will always have the poor among you, but you
will not always have Me."
9 Now a large crowd of Judeans knew He was there
and came, not only for Yeshua but also to see
Lazarus, whom He had raised from the dead.
10 So the ruling kohanim made plans to kill
11 because on account of him many of the Jewish
people were going and putting their trust in Yeshua.
As it was with all those that have been crowned from the days of the judges on, King Saul, King David, King Solomon, King Jeroboam, etc., etc. Yeshua the King of
the World, Yeshua Melech Ha'Olam was anointed.
The feast of Passover was celebrated in Jerusalem and this was the last stop before entering the city.
So the next day they went on their way to Jerusalem.
1 When Jesus and his followers approached
Jerusalem, they came to Bethphage and Bethany at
the Mount of Olives. Jesus gave two disciples a
task, 2 saying to them, “Go into the village over
there. As soon as you enter it, you will find tied up
there a colt that no one has ridden. Untie it and
bring it here. 3 If anyone says to you, ‘Why are you
doing this?’ say, ‘Its master needs it, and he will
send it back right away.’”
4 They went and found a colt tied to a gate outside
on the street, and they untied it. 5 Some people
standing around said to them, “What are you doing,
untying the colt?” 6 They told them just what Jesus
said, and they left them alone. 7 They brought the
colt to Jesus and threw their clothes upon it, and he
sat on it. 8 Many people spread out their clothes on
the road while others spread branches cut from the
So as we said, but now continuing from the Tree of Life Version.
12 The next day, the huge crowd that had come up
for the feast heard that Yeshua was coming to
13 So they took palm branches and went out to meet
Him, shouting, "'Hoshia-na! Baruch ha-ba b'shem
ADONAI! Blessed is He who comes in the name of
the Lord !' The King of Israel!
14 Finding a young donkey, Yeshua sat on it, as it is
15 Fear not, Daughter of Zion! Look! Your King is
coming, sitting on a donkey's colt ."
16 His disciples did not understand these things at
first. But when Yeshua was glorified, then they
remembered that these things were written about
Him and that the crowd had done these things for
17 So the crowd, which had been with Yeshua when
He called Lazarus out of the tomb and raised him
from the dead, kept on telling everyone about it.
18 It was also for this reason that the crowd came
out to meet Him, because they heard that He had
performed this sign.
19 So the Pharisees said to each other, "You see
that you can't do anything. Look, the whole world
has taken off after Him!
The animal itself did not have any awareness of what was happening to him.
It was not even trained to do so.
The only thing it needed to do is not throw off Jesus.
Or with other words, it needed to have the willingness to put one foot in front of the other with Jesus, with God's Word is on its back.
That my beloved friends are the same as you and me.
My beloved wife and I have discussions frequently about the willingness to serve.
God uses those that are willing, not necessarily those that are highly qualified.
Of course, it is very useful to be educated and qualified to do the work you are set to do, however, with God all things are possible and God will use the willing.
Never be surprised if you receive a word from the Lord, from the most unexpected source, a child, or in a different tongue/language.
Maybe even somebody sends something to you that you need to run through a translating service first.
It happens, and you can count on it to happen.
We always look at those with the longest titles and resumes, but it surely is not always that from this direction that we receive God's word.
As we also saw in the opening of this message, you never know who or how God's message is brought in.
People might even call you an ass for doing so.
I however will be proud to be an ass for Jesus.!!!
Jesus entered into City and people were ready to see the one that had set them free.
For them again Jesus spoke in riddles, but let us look at this text with the eyes that we have on the words of Jesus and be shouting our amens, and hallelujas for the covenant is ready to be sealed and eternal life and freedom from sin, Holiness has become available for you and for me.
20 Now there were some Greeks among those who
were going up to worship at the feast.
21 These came to Philip, who was from Bethsaida
in the Galilee. "Sir," they said, "we want to see
22 Philip comes and tells Andrew; Andrew and
Philip come and tell Yeshua.
23 Yeshua answers them, saying, "The hour has
come for the Son of Man to be glorified!
24 Amen, amen I tell you, unless a grain of wheat
falls to the earth and dies, it remains alone. But if it
dies, it produces much fruit.
25 He who loves his life will lose it, and the one
who hates his life in this world will keep it forever.
26 If any man serves Me, he must follow Me; and
where I am, there also will My servant be. If anyone
serves Me, the Father will honor him.
27 Now My soul is troubled. And what shall I say?
'Father, save Me from this hour? But it was for this
reason I came to this hour.
28 Father, glorify Your name! "Then a voice came
out of heaven, "I have glorified it, and again I will
29 Therefore the crowd that was standing there and
heard it was saying that it had thundered. Others
were saying, "An angel has spoken to Him.
30 Yeshua responded, "This voice hasn't come for
My sake, but for yours.
31 Now is the judgment of this world! Now the
prince of this world will be driven out!
32 And as I am lifted up from the earth, I will draw
all to Myself."
33 He said this to show the kind of death He was
about to die.
34 The crowd answered Him, "We've heard from
The scripture that the Messiah remains forever. How
can You say, 'The Son of Man must be lifted up?
Who is this Son of Man?
Jesus at first shows the establishment of Him as being the son of God and then confirms His earthly being by acknowledging the difficulty of what He needs to go
through by saying And what shall I say? 'Father, save Me from this hour?
Explaining too that now it is one, but if one wants to bare fruit the seed needs to die and then sprout and give new life, not as a seed anymore, but life to a plant that
in turn, will bare fruit and produce more seeds.
Of course, I would not have understood a word at that moment, as was the case with the disciples and all those others that were with him at the time.
Then it happens, the third time in scripture we see the trinity together, and the second time in the new testament that the voice of God is heard.
28 Father, glorify Your name! "Then a voice came out of heaven, "I have glorified it, and again I will glorify it!"
Even then the people could not believe their own ears and said that it thundered, or that they heard angels.
God Spoke and accepted the coming sacrifice of the Son.
Jesus then speaks about the coming ascension and with that states that people will draw to Him for their salvation instead of the temple services.
The new covenant that we are going to celebrate in length next week is to come and the Bishop of our Souls, the Kohen Gadol, the core and center of our covenant is Jesus the Christ, His blood, His sacrifice, His witness before God the father is what binds us all together.
It is not the show of force in the denominations which we call the church.
The church has nothing to do with that.
The church is the people that have chosen to follow Yeshua, not just with their words, but with all of their heart body and soul.
I've given my life to Christ, I'm His.
My body is His, to do with as He pleases.
The people just did not understand, they thought that Messiah would be like one of the elven kings in Lord of the Rings, living forever and ruling forever.
They did not understand that the relationship that we have with the Messiah is not one of a physical, but a spiritual, a soul relationship.
As our Spirit, our Soul is fused with the Holy Spirit of God, the Ruach Ha'Kodesh it is this spirit that will be our source of power/strength.
It is this spirit that will be our conscience.
It is this spirit that will be our motivator, our pusher through-er for the lack of better words.
Through Jesus, Hallelu-yah, we only need to ask.
give the child a scorpion? 13 If you who are evil
know how to give good gifts to your children, how
much more will the heavenly Father give the Holy
Spirit to those who ask him?”
26 But the Comforter (Counselor, Helper,
Intercessor, Advocate, Strengthener, Standby), the
Holy Spirit, Whom the Father will send in My name
[in My place, to represent Me and act on My
behalf], He will teach you all things. And He will
cause you to recall (will remind you of, bring to
your remembrance) everything I have told you.
27 Peace I leave with you; My [own] peace I now
give and bequeath to you. Not as the world gives do
I give to you. Do not let your hearts be troubled,
neither let them be afraid. [Stop allowing
yourselves to be agitated and disturbed, and do not
permit yourselves to be fearful and intimidated and
cowardly and unsettled.]
Wow, you see how much we know than even those that walked with Jesus during His days on earth.
Oh my, Passover is the celebration that sets me free, out of the darkness into the light.
The crucifixion provides the blood covenant with a risen and living Lord, and the Resurrection is the firstborn sacrifice, the wave offering of the sheaves to God
35 "Therefore Yeshua said to them, "The light is
with you for a little longer. Walk while you have the
light so that the darkness will not overtake you.
The one who walks in darkness doesn't know where
he is going.
36 While you have the light, believe in the light so
that you may become sons of light." Yeshua spoke
these things, then left and hid Himself from them.
37 But even though He had performed so many
signs before them, they weren't trusting in Him.
38 This was to fulfill the word of Isaiah the prophet,
who said, "ADONAI, who has believed our report?
To whom has the arm of ADONAI been revealed ?"
39 For this reason they could not believe, for Isaiah
40 He has blinded their eyes and hardened their
hearts, so they might not see with their eyes nor
understand with their hearts and turn back, and I
would heal them.
41 Isaiah said these things because he saw His
glory and spoke of Him.
42 Nevertheless many, even among the leaders, put
their trust in Him. But because of the Pharisees,
they were not confessing Yeshua, so they would not
be thrown out of the synagogue ;
43 for they loved the glory of men more than
the glory of God.
44 Yeshua cried out, "Whoever puts trust in Me
believes not in Me but in the One who sent Me!
45 And whoever beholds Me beholds the One who
Oh my God, look at our country, look at our world,
Jesus is speaking now!!!
Jesus is speaking these words and it resonates in our world.
The words of the Prophet Isaiah are being fulfilled, many of our churches, once so on fire for the word of God is now more concerned with the numbers in their the congregation and the amount in their bank accounts so that the expensive buildings, heating, cooling, water, staff, and vehicles can be paid for.
They are more in tune with what the Pharisees, or should we call them today peers are saying, instead of God's word.
And then when people like Dr. Franklin Graham, or on that behalf of Dr. Michael Brown, or even I are saying the words that are written in the scriptures they are all in arms and defending the words of the world, instead of the Words of God.
Yes, people want their ears tickled, everybody must be a winner, no one can be second, or can you imagine, last.
Nobody wants to hear words of correction, or condemnation, not even those spoken with the most warmth and fatherly love.
It is however not the world that sacrificed itself for our salvation, it was the Lord our Master, Our God, Yeshua who died on that tree.
Jesus rode in on an ass and people expected a new ruler, a new power defeating the Romans, but they did not realize that they needed to be liberated, be delivered
It seems nothing has changed, people and in this case, for sure the church needs to be delivered from itself first.
Jesus is Lord.
Hoshia-na! Baruch ha-ba b'shem ADONAI
Will be continued next week with a Celebration.
Note: These are notes, this is not a transcript nor a written out
sermon. We believe that it is the Holy Spirit that speaks through the
preacher and it is that Holy Spirit that convicts and leads to what the
congregation needs to hear.
On average these notes provide a 30 to 45-minute sermon/teaching.
