21 Then Moses called for all the elders of Israel and said to them, “Go, select lambs for your families and slaughter the Passover lamb. [a] 22 You are to take a bundle of hyssop, dip it in the blood that is in the basin, and apply it to the crossbeam and two doorposts with the blood from the basin. None of you may go out the door of his house until morning. 23 Adonai will pass through to strike down the Egyptians, but when He sees the blood on the crossbeam and the two doorposts, Adonai will pass over that door, and will not allow the destroyer to come into your houses to strike you down. 24 Also you are to observe this event as an eternal ordinance, for you and your children. 25 “When you come into the land which Adonai will give you as He has promised, you are to keep this ceremony. 26 Now when it happens that your children ask you, ‘What does this ceremony mean to you?’ 27 You are to say, ‘It is the sacrifice of Adonai’s Passover, because He passed over the houses of Bnei-Yisrael in Egypt, when He struck down the Egyptians, but spared our households.’” So the people bowed their heads and worshipped. 28 Then Bnei-Yisrael went and did it. They did just as Adonai had commanded Moses and Aaron. 29 So it came about at midnight that Adonai struck down all the firstborn in the land of Egypt, from the firstborn of Pharaoh sitting on his throne to the firstborn of the captive who was in the dungeon, and all the firstborn cattle.[b] 30 Then Pharaoh rose up in the night, he and all his servants and all the Egyptians, and there was loud wailing in Egypt. For there was not a house where someone was not dead. 31 So he called for Moses and Aaron at night and said, “Rise up, go out from my people, both you and Bnei-Yisrael, go, serve Adonai as you have said. 32 Take your flocks and your herds, as you said, and be gone! But bless me, too.” 33 Now the Egyptians urged the people, sending them out of the land quickly, for they thought, “We will all be dead!” 34 So the people took their dough before it was leavened, with their kneading bowls bound up in their clothes on their shoulders. 35 So Bnei-Yisrael acted according to the word of Moses. They asked the Egyptians for articles of silver and gold, and for clothing. 36 Adonai gave the people favor in the eyes of the Egyptians and let them have what they asked for. 2 At that time Adonai said to Joshua, “Make yourself flint knives and circumcise again Bnei-Yisrael a second time.” 3 So Joshua made flint knives and circumcised Bnei-Yisrael at Gibeath-ha-araloth. 4 Now this is the reason why Joshua circumcised: all the people that came out of Egypt who were males—all the men of war—had died in the wilderness along the way after they came out of Egypt. 5 Though all the people that came out were circumcised, none of the people who were born in the wilderness along the way as they came out of Egypt had been circumcised. 6 For Bnei-Yisrael walked 40 years in the wilderness, until all the nation’s men of war who came out of Egypt died out, because they had not listened to the voice of Adonai. To them Adonai had sworn that He would never let them see the land which Adonai had sworn to their fathers that He would give us, a land flowing with milk and honey. 7 But He raised up their children in their place. Joshua circumcised them, for they were uncircumcised, since they had not been circumcised along the way. 8 Now it came to pass after they had finished circumcising the entire nation, they remained in their places in the camp until they recovered. 9 Then Adonai said to Joshua, “This day I have rolled away the reproach of Egypt from you.” Therefore the name of that place has been called Gilgal to this day. 10 While Bnei-Yisrael camped at Gilgal[a], they observed Passover on the evening of the fourteenth day of the month in the plains of Jericho. 11 On the day after the Passover, on that very day, they ate of the produce of the land, matzot and roasted grain. 12 Then the manna ceased on the day after they had eaten of the produce of the land. Bnei-Yisrael had manna no longer, but ate some of the yield of the land of Canaan that year. Commander of Adonai’s Army13 Now it came to pass when Joshua was near Jericho that he lifted up his eyes and looked, and behold, there was a man standing in front of him with his sword drawn in his hand. Joshua approached him and said to him: “Are you for us or for our adversaries?” 14 “Neither,” he said. “Rather, I have now come as commander of Adonai’s army.” Then Joshua fell on his face to the ground and worshipped. Then he asked him, “What is my lord saying to his servant?” 15 Then the commander of Adonai’s army replied to Joshua, “Take your sandal off of your foot, for the place where you are standing is holy.” And Joshua did so. 6 Now Jericho was tightly shut up because of Bnei-Yisrael—no one going out and no one coming in. |

31 It was the Day of Preparation, and the next day was a festival Shabbat. So that the bodies should not remain on the execution stake during Shabbat, the Judean leaders asked Pilate to have the legs broken and to have the bodies taken away. 32 So the soldiers came and broke the legs of the first and then the other who had been executed with Yeshua. 33 Now when they came to Yeshua and saw that He was already dead, they did not break His legs. 34 But one of the soldiers pierced His side with a spear, and immediately blood and water came out. 35 He who has seen it has testified, and his testimony is true. He knows that he is telling the truth, so that you also may believe. 36 These things happened so that the Scripture would be fulfilled, “Not a bone of His shall be broken.” [a] 37 And again another Scripture says, “They shall look on Him whom they have pierced.”[b] Buried in a Rich Man’s Tomb38 After these things, Joseph of Arimathea asked Pilate if he could take Yeshua’s body away. Joseph was a disciple of Yeshua, but secretly for fear of the Judean leaders. Pilate gave permission, so Joseph came and took the body away. 39 Nicodemus, who had first visited Yeshua at night, also came bringing a mixture of myrrh and aloes, about a hundred pounds. [c] 40 Then they took the body of Yeshua and wrapped it in linen with the spices, as is the Jewish burial custom. 41 Now in the place where He was executed, there was a garden. In the garden was a new tomb[d] where no one had yet been buried. 42 Because it was the Jewish Day of Preparation and the tomb was nearby, they laid Yeshua there. The Lamb of God is Resurrected20 Early in the morning on the first day of the week, while it is still dark, Miriam from Magdala comes to the tomb. Dedication of the Levites 8 Adonai spoke to Moses saying, 2 “Speak to Aaron and say to him: When you erect the lamps, the seven lamps are to illuminate the area in front of the menorah.” 3 Aaron did so. He erected the lamps facing forward so they illuminated the area in front of the menorah, just as Adonai had commanded Moses. 4 Now this is how the menorah was made: hammered gold from its base to its blossoms. Just as was the pattern that Adonai had shown to Moses, so he made the menorah. 5 Again Adonai spoke to Moses saying, 6 “Take the Levites from among Bnei-Yisraeland ceremonially cleanse them. 7 This is what you must do to them to make them clean: Sprinkle the purifying water on them,[a] then have them shave their whole bodies and wash their clothes, thus purifying themselves. 8 “Then they are to take a young bull with its grain offering of fine flour mixed with oil, plus a second young bull for a sin offering. 9 Bring the Levites before the Tent of Meeting, and gather the whole community of Bnei-Yisrael. 10 Bring the Levites before Adonai, Bnei-Yisrael will lay their hands on the Levites, 11 and Aaron will present the Levites before Adonai as a wave offering from Bnei-Yisrael. [c] 2 Adonai said to the satan, ‘Adonai rebukes you, the satan. On the Move through Samaria11 Now while going up to Jerusalem, Yeshua was passing between Samaria and the Galilee. 12 As He entered a certain village, ten men with tzara’at came toward Him. They stood some distance away [a] 13 and raised their voices, saying, “Yeshua, Master, have mercy on us!” 14 When He saw them, He said to them, “Go and show yourselves to the kohanim.”[b] And as they went, they were cleansed. 15 Now one of them, when he saw that he was healed, came back, glorifying God with a loud voice. 16 And he fell at Yeshua’s feet, facedown, giving Him thanks. And he was a Samaritan. 17 Then Yeshua answered and said, “Weren’t ten cleansed? But where are the nine? 18 Weren’t any found who came back to give glory to God except this foreigner?” 19 Then Yeshua said to the man, “Stand up and go! [h] 8 And their corpses will lie in the open street[i] of the great city that figuratively is called Sodom and Egypt—where also their[j] Lord was crucified. 9 Some from the peoples and tribes and tongues and nations will look at their corpses for three and a half days, not allowing them to be placed into a grave. [k] 10 Those who dwell on the earth will rejoice over them.
